The right method
is personal.
We offer several professional installation options. Your stylist will recommend the method, amount of hair, and maintenance plan during your consultation.
Hand-tied & sewn-in wefts
Sewn onto a beaded foundation, wefts build length and fullness. Your stylist chooses placement and density for your natural hair and desired result.
Tape-in extensions
Thin, lightweight wefts sit flat against small sections of your natural hair. A versatile option for targeted volume and for blending with other methods.
I-Tip extensions
Individual strands are secured with small beads, allowing precise placement, natural movement, and reusable hair with scheduled move-ups.
K-Tip extensions
Individual keratin bonds allow precise placement for a look designed around your cut, color, and styling habits.
BELLAMI extension methods at a glance
| Method | How it attaches | Typical maintenance | Often chosen for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wefts | Sewn onto a row of small beads placed in your natural hair | Move-up every 4–6 weeks | Maximum length and fullness, with hair that can be reused at each move-up |
| Tape-in | Thin wefts that lie flat on small sections of natural hair | Reapplied about every 4–8 weeks, depending on the style | Targeted volume, money pieces, and blending shorter layers |
| I-Tip | Individual strands secured with small beads, with no heat or glue | Move-up every 6–8 weeks | Precise, strand-by-strand placement and natural movement |
| K-Tip | Individual keratin bonds fused close to the scalp | Worn for months, then removed and replaced | A long-wearing, undetectable finish |
Maintenance timing is based on BELLAMI’s professional guidance and varies with your hair growth and routine. Your artist confirms your schedule at your consultation.
The best extensions make people notice your hair, not your extensions.
Every detail matters: the shade, the placement, the cut, and how the hair looks in motion.

Care & maintenance
You leave knowing how to care for your extensions at home and when to return for the maintenance your method requires.

Caring for your extensions.
With proper care and maintenance, BELLAMI hair typically lasts 6 to 12 months. Your artist sends you home with a care plan for your method. These are the habits that matter most.
- i.
Brush gently, and often
Start at the ends and work up, supporting the hair at the root so there is no tension on the attachments.
- ii.
Use extension-safe products
Choose gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, and keep conditioners and oils away from bonds, tapes, and beads.
- iii.
Dry the roots completely
Never leave attachments damp. Dry the root area fully after every wash.
- iv.
Protect your hair at night
Sleep with dry hair in a loose braid or low ponytail, ideally on a silk pillowcase, to prevent tangling.
- v.
Use heat protection
Apply a heat protectant before hot tools and keep heat away from the attachment points.
- vi.
Keep your maintenance appointments
On-time move-ups protect your natural hair and keep the blend seamless as your hair grows.
Questions,
answered.
How much do hair extensions cost at Alfredo James?
Pricing depends on the method, the amount and length of hair, color work, and installation. We provide a personalized quote at your complimentary consultation before you commit to the service.
Which hair extension method is right for me?
That depends on your natural hair, your desired result, and your routine. Your artist evaluates those details and explains the recommended option, whether wefts, tape-ins, I-Tips, or K-Tips, at your consultation.
What is BELLAMI hair made of?
BELLAMI Professional extensions are made from 100% virgin Remy human hair with the cuticle left intact, sustainably produced from ethically sourced hair. Each extension goes through a four-point quality check.
How long do BELLAMI hair extensions last?
With proper care and maintenance, BELLAMI hair typically lasts 6 to 12 months. How long yours lasts depends on the method, your home care, and keeping your maintenance appointments.
How often will I need maintenance?
It depends on the method and your natural hair growth. BELLAMI typically recommends weft move-ups every 4 to 6 weeks and I-Tip move-ups every 6 to 8 weeks. Tape-ins are usually reapplied every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the style. K-Tips follow a different wear and replacement schedule. Your artist will give you a personalized plan at your consultation.
Can extensions add fullness without dramatic length?
Yes. We can plan BELLAMI extensions for volume and shape as well as length. Tell us the result you want, and we will design around it.
Will the extensions match my hair color?
Yes. Your artist matches and blends the extension color to your natural hair, then cuts and styles the extensions so the result looks seamless.
Are Alfredo James stylists BELLAMI certified?
Yes. Every Alfredo James stylist is BELLAMI Master Certified, and Alfredo James is a Club BELLAMI VIP Salon.
